Transfers: Spurs hot on Icardi’s trail

English Premier League powerhouse Tottenham Hotspur have been reported to be on the lookout for a new striker to share goal-scoring responsibilities with English hotshot Harry Kane.

It is rumoured by sky sports Italia that Spurs have sent out scouts to monitor the situation of Inter captain Mauro Icardi. Spurs, who had a bid for AZ Alkmaar hitman Vincent Janssen turned down, have now turned their sights on the Inter striker who is supposedly more expensive than Jansen with Inter set to reject any bid south of €45 million.

At 23, Mauro Icardi has proven himself as one of the best strikers in Italy, becoming Serie A’s highest goal scorer in the 2014-2015 season.

With Arsenal and Athletico Madrid also interested in Icardi, Inter might find the prolific goal-scorer who has turned in 52 goals in 105 games hard to keep considering that his suitors are teams from better leagues who play Champions League football, something Inter can’t offer Icardi for the 2016-17 season.
