Summer Transfers: Ins and Outs so far

Football never stops. That’s truer than ever this particular summer, as both the Copa and the Euro is set to begin shortly. However, though most of the transfer business will be conducted after the conclusion of those two tournaments, there have been plenty of occurrences thus far. For instance, Brendan Rodgers has been appointed the new manager of Celtic and wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic to join him.

As if the Swede was ever going to choose the former Liverpool legend over the Special One.

Speaking of which, Jose Mourinho has gotten himself his dream job at last. Got to feel bad for the man; he had to suffer through jobs at Inter, Real, and Chelsea to get here…

Meanwhile, in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund have been rather busy as of late. Mats Hummels decided after spending 7 years playing in front of the Yellow Wall that enough was enough; the German has decided to join archrivals (should they even be called that anymore?) Bayern Munich.

However, after losing their captain, Borussia fans will have been pleased to see the next Lionel Messi, aka Ousmane Dembélé, join their ranks. The youngster, who just recently turned 19, made a decision to follow his heart, citing the fans’ passion for the club as his reason for making the move.

İlkay Gündoğan has also pondered beyond the Yellow Wall only to be abducted and later signed onto a contract from his hospital bed by Manchester City. This is Pep’s first official signing for next season (should he survive the wrath of Borussia’s supporters).

Amongst other things, Manchester United have also notably failed to capture one of their biggest transfer targets for this summer, Renato Sanches. The former Benfica man has decided to move to Bayern instead, claiming that he ‘wants to win trophies’.

LVG should’ve shoved the FA Cup in his face while he was still awaiting the axe. That would’ve shut him up.

Oh, and Wenger purchased another midfielder, Granit Xhaka. The Swiss International is also touted to be Arsenal’s next captain.

Fees:

Hummels to Bayern: €38 million

Dembélé to Dortmund: €8 million

Gündoğan to City: €27 million

Sanches to Bayern: €35 million

Xhaka to Arsenal: €45 million
