Barcelona’s exhibitionist style penalty last weekend against Celta Vigo was the subject of criticism from a number of fans and players worldwide. However, an equal number of people thought positively about it and perhaps believed it was an unnecessary fuss. Obviously, Real Madrid fans were on the side that was infuriated, though to be blatant, no one really knows why. The Spanish have a habit of making a huge fuss about something that doesn’t exactly play according to the books. Maybe that’s the reason Messi did what he did in the first place.
At the Camp Nou, not many teams come hoping to leave with the same level of pride and dignity as they are used to. To be more precise, most of them get harassed and embarrassed by the sheer unworldly class of the Blaugrana. Celta Vigo might’ve thought they were going to get away from there with a decent result, but it was not to be, as it turned out.
MSN and Co. jumped up another gear in their manual shift Bugatti and completely dismantled them in the last few minutes of the game. So, when Messi duly earned his penalty kick, and stepped up to take it, few (or none) would’ve expected him to do what he did.
After the game, we found out that the pass was actually meant for Neymar(Suárez, why you so greedy?) and so we could say even Messi was a bit surprised after he took the kick.
The Spanish media and rival club’s supporters have turned this minor uncommon event into the subject of numerous needless quarrels, when really, what they should be doing is focusing on their own club a bit more, who, if you haven’t noticed, are all below Barca in the table (Oops!).
