Transfer rumours have surfaced concerning Lyon’s phenomenal star striker Alexandre Lacazette. The player scored a fantastic 27 goals in 33 appearances during last season for the French outfit in Ligue 1. It was really an unsolved mystery as to why he hadn’t moved to a big Premier League club in the summer. But, the mystery is a bit simplified when you see that Lyon wanted a fee upward of £40 million during the summer transfer window for this man.
So, supposedly, no one club was brave enough to pay that amount for a French player who had only been on form for just one season, though to be fair he has had to suffer a lot of injuries during his career. The latest came during Lyon’s match against Valencia in the Champions League in December, in which both of them were knocked out eventually.

Personally, I really like the player, and would love to see him play for a big Premier League club one day. He also realizes this and has said that he needs to move on from Lyon, his birthplace, if he is to accomplish things in the footballing world.
His move would’ve taken place had it not been Lyon’s stubbornness in trying to raise his fee to an astronomical amount. They are paying for their stupidity now, as Lacazette hasn’t been at his absolute best this season and has only scored 7 goals in the league so far in this campaign. Though that, clubs still value this player highly, evident by the bid of Newcastle United for the 24-year old Frenchman. According to reports from the Daily Mirror, the Magpies have bid £25 million for his signature, which ‘Lyon are likely to accept’.

This player still has the ambition of playing for a big Premier League club, and no offense to Newcastle, but I do not think that they are what he had in mind (hence the relegation battle). So, it’d be interesting to see what happens next.
